For the SD range is this mod different to another you were working on? In one of your posts you mentioned that the older machines will be sort after due to a mod you were working on.

Hi Woody,

Do you have a time line on when this latest mod will ready for market? Only a few months to when the cooler weather arrives.

Yeh I reckon $10k will be close to the mark. Popular though with the first batch already reserved out.

Your front end gain certainly makes a difference but seldom able to crank right up in mineralised ground. Mind you I tend to stick with a mono.

Sounds great Woody. Hate to think what the new GPZ is going to cost.

What are your thoughts on the ZVT technology?

Hi Woody, was thinking of selling my SD2100 you modded for me some time back as I hardly use it these days since getting the 4500. However, after reading your last comment I've changed my mind and look forward to see what you bring out. Keep up the great work Woody.

New Detector accessories / Re: Interference filter
« on: September 11, 2014, 09:44:39 pm »
Tried the Interference filter on the weekend and yes the unit was much smoother. I found myself concentrating solely on the ground balance as there was no warble or other interference even with a 5000 and a SDC 2300 near by.

Woody I normally use your recommended settings for the modified 4500 and manually tuned the unit which on the weekend was around 110 with the filter in use. As an exercise I tried the auto tune as well with the filter and it settled around 210. I was puzzled why there was such a variation as both seemed to provide the same result.

I didn't know they were so popular Woody.

I got to ask though, how do you get these units you work on to be so stable in your work shop? If I fire up my SD2100 in the yard the thing goes beserk.

Have you watched the YouTube version of Jack Lange's testing of a modified F1A4. Quite a stable unit and performed well against his fav 3500.

Ever thought about adding custom coils to your product listing Woody?

Hi all,

Went out with the old man on the weekend and the 4500 was working a treat in the Territory as the ground is very dry and the weather cooler than the wet/summer months. Just out for the day and didn't find any nuggets but in these conditions the modded 4500 was giving the old mans 5000 a run with the test nugget and the trash we found.

I think we're all ok with that Woody. We look forward to the work you do.

In the meantime I might have to attach a weed trimmer to mine, too much heavy grass around during our wet.   ;D

Hi all, great to see a usable forum back on line.

In regard to this topic, Woody could there still be room for improvement mods on the SD's or are they at their limit? I don't see too many in the fields in the NT these days as most have upgraded to the 4500s and 5000s which are still beyond my financial reach.
