General Discussion / Re: Sdc2300

It seems Minelab is feeling the hurt that the Garrett ATX put on them.
The release of the SDC2300 looks like a knee jerk reaction to the ATX.
So much so have Minelab copied the concept of Garretts ATX that they also used their Mil-Spec housing and construction, even the price range.
So we have 2 companies that make metal detectors, and Garrett lets there ATX out, it looks exactly like their Mil-Spec version they sell to the military.
Then Minelab release the SDC2300 in a housing that is almost identical to Minelabs latest Mil-Spec housing.
Just before this happened a swag of Minelab F1A4's came to the end of their military service life and found their way onto the market.
That sets the bar high for anything following.
If it is not water and dust proof and built rough and tough it wont cut the mustard.

Maybe that big chip that removes the impulse noises is there to allow it to run side by side with other F1A4's.
The instructions mention booting them up in sequence one after the other so that a line of men can walk in close proximity and demine large strips at once.
Might be too expensive to throw them into gold detectors, or maybe it Mil-Spec stuff.
Anyhow i think you might be right on that it would help the F1A4 too-the science of filter traps is sound.
Just like an audio crossover stops the wrong frequency getting into a speaker, your filter stops the noises getting into the detector front end.
Great idea.

Would that filter help an F1A4?
I can boot up the F1A4 in the house and it runs smooth and quiet.
Can't say the same for the modded SD2100-it goes nuts...i think that would be good for the 2100 but i think the F1A4 doesn't need it.
Your thoughts?

Watched your video-looks like an excellent addition to the front end...is there enough room to build it in as a mod or does it have sit outside?
Is there any dB losses in gain across those 5 pin microphone sockets?

General Discussion / Re: Detectormods not working
« on: July 19, 2013, 11:05:54 pm »
The old forum got migrated to yuku- and since then it has been dead in the water.
Login problems and posting problems seem to plague the migration, and probably the Yuku platform altogether.
I put a post encouraging users to at least post a test post to see if it is working, nobody responded and most likely nobody even saw it since viewing recent activity requires clicking a non descript button.I can log in but trying to use it is frustrating at the best of times.
I say leave the dead fish floating belly up-that forum is dead
