Ok what's your thought's on the sdc2300 , performance wise to a 4500 with your mod ? I have a 4500 with the mod & have been doing very well with it over old area's that I have flogged , any feed back would be great thanks . Terry

To be able to get smaller gold such as what the sdc2300 gets i would be using a very small coil. It is my own personal view that looking for 0.1 gram bits of gold is more of a time wasting exercise as these small bits are worth $1.40  spending 10 minutes trying to find a speck robs you of covering more ground where there is every possibillity of snagging a nice piece.  That is my personal opinion.

Haveadig:
Yep very true , myself I have found some thumpers by following them small one's , will just have hire one out when back in Vic & go over a few spots & see what turns up :-)

It seems Minelab is feeling the hurt that the Garrett ATX put on them.
The release of the SDC2300 looks like a knee jerk reaction to the ATX.
So much so have Minelab copied the concept of Garretts ATX that they also used their Mil-Spec housing and construction, even the price range.
So we have 2 companies that make metal detectors, and Garrett lets there ATX out, it looks exactly like their Mil-Spec version they sell to the military.
Then Minelab release the SDC2300 in a housing that is almost identical to Minelabs latest Mil-Spec housing.
Just before this happened a swag of Minelab F1A4's came to the end of their military service life and found their way onto the market.
That sets the bar high for anything following.
If it is not water and dust proof and built rough and tough it wont cut the mustard.

Using small coils and having these small gold detectors is like going out and playing bingo, using large coils and going deep is like playing powerball. I really think these small gold detectors will be a 5 minute wonder, maybe these detectors are coming out as the manufacturers may have hit the technology brick wall, these small gold detectors are on par with the vlf detectors available in the 1990's  if you want small gold use a gold master, at least you get some discrimination.
