We are now doing updated mods on the GPX series of Minelab detectors to make them go deeper on large Gold and to detect small Gold with much improved sensitivity.
These demo video's do not display the timing modifications that have just been developed. The newest mods on the Extreme, GP-3000 and GPX-3500 are brilliant! These give increased Depth on all size Gold, a much more stable Threshold and a large increase in sensitivity.

Modded GP3000 on Youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k2kFc8uagQ0 I will also be posting info on how to do your own detector mods and repairs. I have uploaded to youtube a video about fixing some common faults with the GP3000 GP3500 and GP Extreme detectors. The first is how to rectify thermal instability and also how to fix a common problem of the detector going dead on you.

This is the Fairchild DO50 that is a common fault in Minelab
Detectors when it will not switch on. View the Vid for the fix.

This is some gold that I recovered from a flogged out patch
at Creswick near Ballarat with a modded GP3000. The bits
range from 0.011 Gram up to 0.26 Gram for a total weight of
1.6 Grams. This area had been gone over by myself 8 months
ago with a standard GP3000 and obviously were beyond the
detection capability of the standard detector..
The Photo above is a GP series detector with a Minelab Mod done at the factory. There is the addition of a 1 amp Ultrafast diode that is connected to the coil connection and to the Cathode of the diode, The Anode of the diode is connected to the Negative rail of the transmit section to an Electolytic capacitor. Some detectors have the mod and some do not. I think it added to stop negative going pulses below ground potential. This could make the detector more stable. The next picture is a GPX-3500 that has the circuitboard upgraded to have the mod as standard. The black line is where the track goes if you want to install your own diode if yours is missing. I also think that this mod adds circuit capacitance across the coil. From an engineers point of view its not the best solution if you want to speed up the transmitter pulses in the detector.
